I already wrote many times about Cesenatico, and still there’s a lot more to write, especially when, for the second year, I was hosted again by the CesenaticoBella Vita Hotels Union.
This year I shared my experiences with 4 new groups of international bloggers. Another nice chance to stay and discover new things, sometimes meeting old friends again, like Quinto Pagliarani. Do you remember him? The old boat restorer?
The bikes paradise
Everyone in Cesenatico has a bike. The village in 7 kilometers long, starting from the harbor until Valverde. People of the village, but tourists, too, took immediately the habit to have an alternative way to moving up and down. Much better and more comfortable than a car (lacks of parking places and high costs).
Almost all the hotels in town have a bike park that shares with their customers and some of them have specials services and proper equipment and spaces for the MBT (the passionate of mountain bike or professional and amateur cyclists). Every year the Nove Colli, a race that starts from Cesenatico going towards 9 different hills of the surroundings, gathers thousands of people, and do not forget the Memorial Marco Pantani, the cyclist champion, who was born here.
You can find all his memorabilias and gadgets at the Spazio Pantani, just beside the rail way station, just in case you arrive by train.
So during the blog tour we had a lot of biking, a chance for me to do some exercise and also for some of them!
What to see in Cesenatico
If you already have seen the Sea Museum, you can pay a visit to the Moretti Museum. Marino Moretti was a writer, he lived in Cesenatico all his life and wrote romances, set in the village, telling the stories of the people living there, such as the Andreana. The little museum, one of the many you can visit in Romagna, is very well kept and it is in the original house of the poet. Thanks to the lovely director Mrs Manuela Ricci, we had the chance to meet one of the friends of Moretti who told us some anecdotes of her friendship and of the Moretti way of living.
If you want to take away a special souvenir, just pay a visit to Stamperia Braghittoni. The young and lovely owner do the typical Romagna engraved tissues with natural colors and handmade. It’s not so difficult but you will need all your patience to do all the steps of the process. Take a look at this gallery to have an idea.
What to eat
Ask who ever in town: Cesenatico is the favourite destination to eat a fancy dinner in one of the many nice restaurants on the Canal. We tasted a couple and had gorgeous food: the Trattoria and the Osteria dei Golosi.
Shopping in Cesenatico
Want to buy yourself something to take with you? Start from Braghittoni shop, and then take the chance to enjoy the Sunday traditional market. Exhibitors from the surroundings come over to show their products. Some of the bloggers bought some cheese and wine.
Where to stay
I do not like writing about hotels in my blog, but this time I feel I can give some good advice for your staying.
Hotel Baltic. Directly on the Canal. Simple but with a plus, the fantastic breakfast cooked fresh every morning.
Hotel Renzo. This is a real surprise. Located in Zadina, on the other part of the canal, is a lovely place, near the wonderful, ancient pinewood and with a high class swimming pool on the roof floor.
Hotel Elisabetta: in Valverde. This is a place that I like a lot. Green parks everywhere, quiet, relax and the lovely Brighi family.
My top three
Hotel Tiffany. A three star that deserves a 4! Luxury rooms, a high quality kitchen and an internal Spa with swimming pool. What else?
Hotel Lungomare: 2 generations working at this 4 star gorgeous hotel, just in front of the sea. But here the plus are Silvia and Francesca. Two sisters, a strength of nature, will welcome you always with a smile. By the way, if you need a special luxury privacy accommodation, ask for the suites with Jacuzzi directly looking on the sea.
Hotel Excelsior: a 3 stars Superior, deserving a 4. This was the surprise of CesenaticoBellavita 2014 edition. Marina is a Lady. The Hotel was built by his father at the end of the 50’, but you will feel the atmosphere of a Riviera Luxury Hotel. The kitchen is pure Romagna revisited and very tasty.
Disclosure: this post is part of the CesenaticoBellaVita BlogTour. I thank the organization and the http://www.cesenaticobellavita.it union to host me and all the other bloggers.
